Last February, Daniel Dorsainvil and his wife
were shot dead in the middle of the street in Port-au-Prince,
Haiti's capital. Daniel was one of the main leaders of the
National Association of Popular Organizations (ANOP) during
the 1990s. In addition, he founded the human rights
organization Group for an Alternative Justice (GAJ), was
coordinator of the Platform of Haitian Human Rights
Organizations (POHDH) and one of the main leaders of the
Benoit Batravil Popular Resistance Coordination (KRPBB, which
is part of the articulation of six political forces that build
a broad front, the Popular Democratic Patriotic Movement
(MPDP). In honor of Daniel and his companion, a patriotic
vigil was held in Port-au-Prince. Below, see a note from
CIPOML in honor of Daniel and his companion.
The Communist Party of Labor of the Dominican Republic was aware of the revolutionary qualities of Daniel and his companion, who was also murdered. Dorsainvil was a militant of the popular and revolutionary struggle for more than twenty years, and was currently part of the struggle for foreign troops, supported by the UN, to leave Haiti, which leads us not to rule out the possibility that his assassination is related to this.
Knowing these revolutionary qualities and the struggle that the Haitian people are waging to have foreign military forces immediately vacate their territory, the Coordinating Committee of ICMLPO expresses its solidarity with Daniel's comrades and family, while at the same time pledging to denounce this fact and to continue demanding that foreign troops leave Haiti. among which there are contingents sent by demagogue and populist governments, such as that of Rafael Correa of Ecuador.
