The Middle East region has been the scene of sharp confrontations in which the geopolitical interests of various imperialist powers (United States, Russia, China, European countries) and of reactionary regional forces allied to them are being played out. In their contention over the control of the region, they impose economic sanctions, causes= wars and military invasions, as has happened and is happening in Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan and Syria. The danger of a new U.S. military operation against Iran is looming today.

To justify its intervention, U.S. imperialism – together with its allies in the region – has mounted a worldwide campaign of lies and misinformation regarding the nuclear program carried out by Iran. The U.S. is stigmatizing Iran as a threat to regional and world peace, when in reality the danger of war rests on inter-imperialist contention, on the voracious appetites of the monopolies that, in this case, have been established in the Persian Gulf region or want to open space there.

U.S. imperialism is characterized by its warmongering policy, which the people know very well. Months ago, the United States unilaterally abandoned the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA); when it remained there it failed to fulfill its commitments. Now it has gotten worse, with its threatening and intimidating offensive, while increasing economic and commercial sanctions against Iran.

The provocations of the United States in the Persian Gulf region are acts of international terrorism. Dozens of military bases in the Middle East, especially those of the United States, are sources of threats and provocations.

The victims of this type of conflict are the workers and peoples, while for the monopoly groups, the imperialist powers and the bourgeois factions use the opportunity to expand and consolidate their power and increase their millionaire profits.

In the name of the parties and organizations that are members of the ICMLPO, we express our solidarity with the Iranian workers and people, with their courageous struggle for democracy and freedom, against imperialism, in defense of the right to self-determination of the people, for the sovereignty and independence of their country.

Only the peoples of Iran, not the foreign powers, have the right to determine the direction of their country. All imperialist powers must leave the region; only in this way can peace and security be guaranteed for the peoples.

No to U.S. intervention in Iran; long live its sovereignty!
